嵯峨嵐山、その歴史の地で蘇る『源氏物語』の世界。

嵯峨院（さがいん）は、復元された貴族の邸宅。茶道、書道、そして庭園や茶室に息づく伝統建築を通じ、平安から江戸時代へと受け継がれてきた日本の伝統文化を深く探求していただける場所です。

江戸時代の面影を残す「嵯峨鳥居本伝統的建造物群保存地区」に佇み、平安時代からの風致保存地区である北嵯峨嵐山に位置する嵯峨院。当館には、1200年の歴史の系譜を物語る数々の貴重な史跡が組み込まれています。なかでも、明治時代に建てられた茅葺き屋根の古民家は、かつて近隣の愛宕山山頂にある神社を目指し、険しい登山へと向かう参拝客を癒やす茶屋として使われていた歴史を持っています。

The world of Tale of Genji is reborn in its original home in Saga-Arashiyama through a restored aristocratic estate exploring traditional Japanese culture through sado, shodo and traditional Japanese architecture via gardens and teahouses, from the Heian era through the Edo period.

Situated in the Saga Toriimoto preserved street district of the Edo-era and located within the Heian-era scenic preservation district of north Saga-Arashiyama, Saga-in Villa also incorporates a number of historic artifacts in its 1,200 year lineage, including a Meiji-era thatched-roof farmhouse that originally served as a teahouse for pilgrims about to embark of the arduous climb to the shrine at the top of nearby Mt. Atago.
